The shipment volume of wheat proteins in Japan declined from nearly 20,000 tons in 2018 to around 18,000 tons in 2022, a 14% drop. This decline can be attributed to multiple factors: a shift towards low-carb and gluten-free diets, increased competition from alternative protein sources, and fluctuations in agricultural productivity and imports. Economic factors such as trade policies and global market prices may also have influenced the reduced shipment volumes.
