Germany had the highest mortality rate of chronic kidney disease due to type 2 diabetes (11.2 per 100,000 people). In comparison, Portugal had the highest due to type 1 diabetes (0.7 per 100,000 people) among select European countries. Austria followed Germany with a high type 2 diabetes mortality rate of 8.5 per 100,000 population. Most countries exhibited higher mortality rates for type 2 diabetes compared to type 1, indicating the noticeable impact of type 2 diabetes on chronic kidney disease mortality.
