Tech companies lead in adopting clean energy, benefiting from their capacity to invest significantly in sustainable solutions. Amazon, holding the title of the world's largest purchaser of clean energy, has set ambitious goals to achieve net zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2040. Meta, the second-largest purchaser, is currently powering its global operations with 100% renewable energy by integrating new wind and solar projects into the local grids of its data centers. Google, ranking third in clean energy procurement, aims to operate on 24/7 carbon-free energy in all its data centers and campuses worldwide by 2030. Microsoft purchased 4.5 GW of clean energy in 2022 and has aggressive targets in place to combat climate change. Microsoft aims to be carbon-negative by 2030 and offset all carbon emitted by the company since its inception by 2050.
