As of 2022, Australia leads the world in the number of green hydrogen plants, driven by its sunshine and wind resources, perfect for producing the clean electricity needed for electrolysis in green hydrogen production. The Australian government has also played a crucial role by actively supporting the sector with funding programs and strategic goals. However, Australia's position as the leader may be challenged soon. China, the world's largest hydrogen consumer, is expanding its green hydrogen production to help decarbonize industries such as steel and chemicals, even though it relies mainly on fossil fuels for hydrogen production. A notable development is the approval of a $20.5 billion green hydrogen project in Ulanqab, showing significant advancements in China’s green hydrogen capabilities. Europe is also building more green hydrogen facilities, with Spain positioned to take the lead. With over 2,500 hours of sunshine annually and expansive wind resources, Spain offers ideal conditions for renewable energy generation, which is key to green hydrogen production. The EU aims to produce and import 10 million metric tons of renewable hydrogen by 2030. To facilitate this, Spain, along with France, Germany, and Portugal, is planning to build a 2 million tonnes per year hydrogen pipeline to support the continent's green hydrogen ambitions
