This is primarily driven by the cost advantage of importing plastic for recycling centers, which is more economical than employing scrap pickers in India. Mexico is the second-largest importer, importing 2.4 million tons, while Malaysia, Canada, and South Korea each import less than 1 million tons of these materials from the United States.
